Bluey Jillaroo Uluru
Jill is at her pedigree known as: Bluey Jillaroo Uluruu, which means redheaded working girl from the outback. Jill originally comes from Oud-Beyerland, The Netherlands, but both parents are imported from Australia. When I had to choose between the four bitches I brought a squeeky toy. I wanted to have a puppy who loves to retrieve. Jill, at the age of six weeks, small as she was went after the toy and brought it to me! Retrieving is still a main thing in her life, and taking a ball with me on walks is the best thing in the world for her.
I was planning to go with Jill for a high level in obedience, but af the basic course her ladyship thought it was enough. The agility on the field next to us was much more interesting: this was real action!! We managed to get in the second degree of agility, but we had to quit due her health problems. She also practised a lot in herding, but we stopped that also for her own sake. If it was up to Jill she would go on till she drops.
Besides all this action she could until recently also been seen on conformation shows and gained several titles. After her last victory -- World champion 2002 at the Worldwinner Amsterdam dogshow -- I decided to stop showing her at national and international CC shows. We sometimes take part on club and local shows.
Unfortunately she was diagnosed with HD (a deforming hip) at the age of 1. Therefore she is excluded for breeding. About 1,5 year ago she added a heart disease to that.
Despite of her healthproblems Jill is a wonderful dog. She loves children and you cannot do her a greater pleasure than throwing a ball, over and over again. She also likes swimming and does not care whether the water is cold or warm and she very much enjoys the many walks together with Quinlan and me!
